This is the progression of a wood sculpture I had been recently working on. I never envisioned the work turning out like this from the inception. My intial intention for the work was to create a four sided post with intersecting cuts which would be later inked up with paint in order to take a print of each side. The post and the intersecting lines never really worked that well so I continued to make angular cuts forming and shaping the piece into something entirely different. The angular cuts then turned into rounded cuts. When some possibilities ended new ones emerged. The work organically changed and evolved from day to day, week to week. After the work was roughed out with the saw I enhanced the intersecting cuts and continued to sand it using a sanding disc on an anlge grinder. After the sanding, I charred the lines within the work with a blow torch then sanded back the work once again.
