The Infinite Past
In this exhibition artists were invited to make an artwork with remnants of street car track excavated from 3rd Avenue in Lethbridge, Alberta to explore what the past and history means.
When I think about the past, the past can seem to go back forever. To pin point the beginning of time is almost impossible. If one were to speculate that The Big Bang were the beginning of time, something before that must have happened to cause The Big Bang. Therefore the past can be considered to be beginingless and go back infinitely. Just as the history of these tracks descend back into the past, so does their reflection in the mirrors seemingly descend back forever, resembling perhaps a tunnel connecting us from this moment to the distant past.
